The Small Animal Internal Medicine team at NC State is excited to announce training opportunities for people who are interested in pursuing careers in academia, research, or industry. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who would like to pursue advanced training in one of the following three areas:
- Aerodigestive Disease
- Vector-Borne Diseases
- Education and Artificial Intelligence
These positions will provide an opportunity to pursue advanced clinical, translational, or basic research, as well as opportunities to expand their teaching experience running a team on a busy clinical service. We anticipate these to be ACVIM-approved fellowships. The Vector-Borne Disease Fellowship will also likely qualify a candidate to become board-certified in parasitology, which would give them a unique set of credentials among specialists.
Program Structure & Responsibilities:
- Clinical Commitment: 25 weeks per year on the Small Animal Internal Medicine service.
- Specialized Training: Hands-on clinical and research experience directly tailored to your chosen track.
- Professional Development: Earn professional certificates in your specialty where available (such as Teaching Certificate for the Education track).
- Research: Completion of a research project suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal, with a focus on your chosen sub-specialty.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Must have successfully completed an ACVIM or ECVIM-approved Small Animal Internal Medicine residency.
- Career Goals: A demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in academia (teaching, research, and clinical service) is essential.
- Must be eligible for North Carolina veterinary licensure and/ or faculty certificate under the supervision of the NC State Veterinary Hospital.
