Locum Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist – Small Animal

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist to provide locum coverage at our growing specialty and emergency hospital in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, Massachusetts.
This is an excellent opportunity for an internist interested in a recurring locum tenens relationship with a collaborative, well-supported specialty hospital. We are seeking coverage for one or more weeks per month, with scheduling flexibility based on availability and hospital needs.
About the Role
At CCVS, your diagnostic insight, clinical expertise, and communication skills will support complex patients, their families, referring veterinarians, and our multidisciplinary hospital teams.
In this locum role, you will provide comprehensive internal medicine services, including chronic and complex case management, consultations and second opinions, advanced diagnostic workups, specialized hospitalization, and procedures such as endoscopy and bronchoscopy.
You will work alongside emergency doctors, experienced nursing teams, and more than 20 specialists across 8 specialties. Additionally, you will support our interns and residents on their IM rotations. Our team is highly collaborative, with strong clinical support and a broad referral base throughout Cape Cod, the Islands, and southeastern Massachusetts.
Expansion and Specialty Growth
CCVS is undergoing a major expansion designed to increase clinical space, strengthen specialty services, and support continued growth across the region.
The expansion will add more clinical space, MRI, fluoroscopy, and three new specialty services: Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Dentistry. These additions will expand our diagnostic and treatment capabilities while creating more opportunities for collaboration across complex cases.

Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent
- Residency training in small animal internal medicine
- Board certification or board eligibility in small animal internal medicine
- Massachusetts veterinary license- active
- State and federal DEA license-active
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to collaborative specialty medicine and exceptional patient care
