Evaluation of Need
The group is looking to add 1.3 to 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) Interventional Radiologists to fully support growth, fill uncovered rotations, and improve physician work-life balance.
Health System & Facility Overview
JRA has been the premier private radiology group in West Tennessee since 1972. The IR section manages a diverse operational footprint across both hospital systems and independent
outpatient spaces in Jackson, TN:
Jackson Madison County General Hospital: Primary site for high-acuity Vascular & Interventional Radiology (VIR) and specialized procedures (Specials). Including Stroke
North Hospital: Secondary hospital site providing regional interventional coverage (VN shift). Outpatient focus.
JRA Vascular & Interventional Clinic & OBL: Located independently at 31 Sandstone Circle. This 10,000 square foot private facility features 7 dedicated clinical exam rooms and 2 state-of-the-art procedural suites equipped with a GE Ultrasound and a GE OEC Elite C-arm systems.
Candidate Parameters & Qualifications
Degree Required: MD or DO
Board Status: BE or BC in Interventional Radiology
Experience: Open to experienced or new grads
Visa Sponsorship: None
Workload, Call, & Scheduling
Standard Work Week: The IR schedule is fast-paced and highly structured. A typical weekly rotation consists of:
1 to 2 Hospital-based IR / Call shifts
1 Light procedure day at the outpatient hospital facility
1 Day dedicated to the independent JRA Clinic / Office-Based Lab (OBL)
+/- 1 Vascular Imaging shift (can be performed 100% remotely at home or at the clinic to provide a physical break from heavy radiation exposure)
Practice Setting: Highly successful, independent private practice group.
Case Mix & Scope: 100% Full-spectrum IR caseload including peripheral arterial disease (PAD), oncology interventions, dialysis access management, venous disease, embolizations, biopsies, stroke thrombectomy, and pulmonary embolism interventions.
Note: The hospital does not carry a formal trauma designation.
Referral Base: Robust, built-in network through long-standing agreements with West TN Healthcare and The Jackson Clinic.
Collaborative Review: Lean operational environment where 25 fellowship-trained radiologists regularly cross-cover rotations outside their narrow subspecialty.
Call Schedule: 1:4 Call with $2,000 per call shift - Includes IR and Stroke intervention
Weekday Call: Call follows a standard daytime VIR shift and is evenly distributed across the section. Expect at least 1 weeknight of call per week covering emergency IR and stroke interventions.
Weekend Call: Evenly distributed Friday through Sunday. Friday and Saturday feature lighter active daytime procedures with overnight call. Sunday is strictly reserved for emergency cases.
Holiday Call: Rotated evenly across the group. One IR partner and one
Diagnostic partner are scheduled per holiday, supported by scheduled sequenceemployed radiologists. IR physician is covering procedures only.
Clinical Scope, Specialized Resources, & Case Mix
Clinical Support Staff: The IR section operates with robust clinical overhead:
Independent Clinic/OBL: 2 RNs, 2 Technologists, 3 Medical Assistants, 1 LPN, 2 Receptionists, 1 Dedicated Scheduler, and an APP Clinical Supervisor (Twonia).
Advanced Practice Providers: 3 APPs rotate between the clinic and hospital sites to round, consult, and directly support the IR physicians.
Annual Clinical Volumes
Section Benchmark: The Interventional Radiology section maintains an exceptional volume profile, averaging 13,000+ wRVUs per physician annually.
Ramp-Up Timeline: Anticipate a 6 to 12-month ramp-up window for incoming physicians to master clinical protocols and build workflow fluidly with the local nursing and tech teams. JRA routinely assigns a dedicated backup physician during this transition period so new hires are supported.
