The successful candidate will assume leadership of a large, complex, and highly regarded clinical, academic, and research department, providing strategic direction to advance excellence in patient care, education, scientific discovery, quality, safety, operational performance, and caregiver engagement. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology lies within the Women’s and Children’s Institute and includes 171 employed physicians and 142 advanced practice providers in Ohio and Florida, including a large midwifery program. In 2025, the department supported over 695,00 patient encounters, 13,759 deliveries and over 7,284 surgeries across 40 sites. Its clinical network includes three tertiary care hospitals with Level III neonatal intensive care units and four secondary hospitals. In 2025, Cleveland Clinic Women’s researchers in the Women’s and Children’s Institute generated $4.6 million in research revenue, supported 252 active studies, and produced 139 publications, underscoring its commitment to advancing women's health through innovation and discovery.
The department is committed to educating the next generation of physicians through resident, fellow and medical student education at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Fellowship opportunities within the Department of Ob/Gyn include Maternal Fetal Medicine, Ob/Gyn Hospitalist and Complex Family planning. The Department of Subspecialty Care for Women’s Health also provides opportunities for fellowship training in gynecologic oncology, urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery, reproductive endocrinology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and specialized women’s health.
Reporting to the Vice Chair of Women’s Health and the Chief of the Women’s and Children’s Institute, the Department Chair will define and execute a strategic vision for obstetric and benign gynecologic care aligned with Cleveland Clinic’s mission. The Chair will foster an inclusive, collaborative culture and ensure the department continues to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes while strengthening its academic and research programs.
- Provide visionary leadership across clinical care, education, research and innovation.
- Advance quality, safety, access, patient experience and operational performance across all locations.
- Lead strategic planning, resource stewardship and fiscal management in partnership with institute leadership.
- Recruit, retain, develop and mentor physicians, advanced practice providers, educators, researchers and administrative leaders.
- Promote multidisciplinary collaboration across departments, institutes and regional locations.
- Champion faculty development, succession planning and a culture of accountability, respect and continuous improvement.
Candidate Qualifications
- MD, DO or equivalent degree with board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and eligibility for medical licensure in Ohio.
- Academic credentials appropriate for appointment at a senior faculty rank.
- A record of excellence in clinical care, education and scholarship, together with significant leadership, administrative and program-development experience.
- Demonstrated success leading in a complex academic healthcare environment and developing high-performing teams.
- A collaborative, transparent and service-oriented leadership style with strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Salary Range $ 580,000 – $795,000 / Year
The salary range displayed in this job posting reflects the anticipated salary range for new physicians hired into full-time (100% FTE) positions. This range is generally aligned with or below the 50th percentile of nationally recognized compensation benchmarks by specialty. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined in accordance with fair market value, considering factors such as professional experience, clinical expertise, board certification, work history, and FTE. This stated range excludes the value of Cleveland Clinic’s comprehensive benefits package, which includes healthcare, dental, vision, retirement, and other offerings.
