Posting Duration:

Salary Range:

$99,700 - $196,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Join us as an expert Software Build System Engineer that is ready for a career with impact!

On a given day, you may be called on to:
  • Lead configuration management, testing and user support of complex software engineering infrastructures that are used by multiple code development teams.
  • Work collectively with architects, developers, technical leads, customers, tactical partners, and end users to collect requirements, design solutions, and deliver extensible software applications.
  • Contribute to a deeply exciting mission through engagement with diverse computer science specialists in areas such as data fusion, signal and image processing, analytics, cloud computing, architectures, and data management and visualization.
  • Lead the technical research and development of an innovative Linux environment to build, integrate, and test sophisticated, real-time decision-making systems that support remote sensing, data acquisition, and analysis applications.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:
  • Bachelor's and Master's in a relevant STEM field plus ten (10) or more years of experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience as a Linux System Programmer or Linux Distribution Package Maintainer.
  • Experience in leading problem identification, root cause analysis, and solving.
  • Ability to obtain DOE Q-level security clearance with SCI, which may require a polygraph test.

Qualifications We Desire:
  • Experience in the following:
  • Git source code management
  • Multi-language build systems (C++, Java, Python)
  • Open Source communities
  • Configuration management systems such as Ansible or Puppet
  • Build automation tools (CMake, Autotools, Maven, Gradle, and Jenkins)
  • Researching, evaluating, and recommending technologies to improve current systems.
  • DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Current Security+ or higher certification
  • Proven record leading a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team
  • Active DOE Q and SCI security clearances

About Our Team:

Within Center 6300's Decision Support Systems Group and as part of the Systems Design and Architecture Department, the Infrastructure Compilation Engineering (ICE) team supports the software engineering process by designing, managing, providing process and configuration management guidance, development and test environments, and tools to allow the system to be run at multiple locations for multiple projects. The system collects, processes, exploits, and disseminates information for critical national security missions.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
