The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Université de Montréal is the only French-language institution of its kind in North America. The Department of Clinical Sciences fosters the advancement of clinical knowledge through innovative research, with the goal of ensuring a quality education for future veterinarians and veterinary specialists.
The successful candidate will also be required to teach courses in the DMV program relocated to Rimouski.
Day-to-day responsibilities Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will:
Teach small animal internal medicine to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the continuing education of veterinarians;
Participate in clinical teaching of the small animal internal medicine service to DMV students and graduate students (including interns and residents);
Supervise graduate students;
Develop innovative and autonomous research axes, and collaborate on various projects in the field of small animal internal medicine;
Contribute to outreach activities within the field of small animal internal medicine (publications, conferences, and others), including participation in various community services in the field;
Contribute to the functioning of the Faculty and the University through participation in committees and working groups.
Additionally:
Participate to emergency duties established by the Centre hospitalier universitaire vétérinaire (CHUV).
Qualifications
Hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent;
Hold M.Sc. or equivalent (relevant research achievements);
Have successfully completed a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine and be a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM); applications from board-eligible individuals, as well as residents in the process of graduation, will also be considered;
Demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality academic teaching, research, and clinical activities;
Hold or be eligible to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec (Canada) issued by the Ordre des Médecins vétérinaires du Québec;
Have adequate proficiency of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired, through the Université de Montréal’s French language support program, in accordance with the Université de Montréal language policy.
