Clinical Medical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to healthcare professionals, ensuring the efficient operation with Dr. Herbert E Dempsey practice. This position will be trained to assist in both front and back-office tasks, interacting with patients, maintaining medical records, and performing various clinical procedures using medical equipment. Phlebotomy and EMR experience is preferred but not required.
Requirements
Patient interaction:
Greet and Assist patients in a positive and welcoming environment.
Obtain and record patient information, medical history, vital signs, orders.
Prepare patients for examination and explain procedures.
Clinical Procedures:
Assist healthcare professionals with examinations and minor medical procedures like physicals using medical equipment.
Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician.
Perform basic laboratory tests such as blood draws and specimen collection. We are a Clia waived lab.
Administrative Tasks:
Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, manage patient records on an EMR system. We use Athena.
Handle phone calls, inquiries, communicate with patients, healthcare providers and other staff.
Maintain and organized and efficient front office, including managing patient registration and insurance information.
Medical Record Management:
Update and maintain electronic paper medical records.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient information.
Follow patient privacy (HIPPA) and maintain patient confidentiality.
Equipment and Inventory Management:
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies.
Manage and order Medical Supplies and equipment weekly.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses and administrative staff.
Assist in coordinating patient care and follow-up.
Compliance:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Completion of medical assistant or higher is often preferred.
Certification as a Medical Assistant or years of experience as one is often preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and basic pharmacology.
Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Must have 4-6 years proven ability to draw blood (phlebotomy).
Working Conditions: Work in a professional medical office clinic where the environment may involve both administrative tasks in an office setting and clinical duties in examination rooms. Our Doctor is affiliated with MDVIP where the atmosphere is relaxed, offering 30-60 minute per patient visits average patients seen in a day is 8-10 or less.
