Schedule: Full time 80 (Two week Payperiod)
Shift: Day/Evening
Pay Grade 145 (Minimum hourly rate $56.89/hr)
M-F rotating weekends + call

Bayhealth is DRIVEN to improving the health of heart and vascular patients in our community and across the region.  We accomplish this through our cardiac and endovascular surgery affiliation with Penn Medicine.  This unique affiliation facilitates a community and academic partnership through intensive clinical and programmatic guidance, including the development of new services, implementation of evidence-based clinical care, and quality oversight.

The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant includes pre-operative, intra-operative and post operative duties including the following:

First assisting in cardiac/vascular/thoracic surgery procedures, performing pre and post-operative care of surgical and non-surgical patients including ventilator management/code management/inotropic drug management, and other functions essential to the care of our patients, coverage in the CVSICU and office setting, working directly with the surgeon in all patient care activities, performs history and physicals, daily multidisciplinary rounds, and bedside procedures (chest tube, central lines, arterial line insertions).

This position requires a Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program approved by the American Medical Association.  A desirable applicant will have two years of Cardiovascular, Thoracic or General Surgery experience as well as post-operative management of the surgical ICU or Critical Care patient. A new graduate with appropriate rotations and a good work ethic will be considered.  Current P.A. license to practice in Delaware (or eligibility to apply for Delaware licensure) approved by Bayhealth credentials committee to practice in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery specialty and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
