General Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Insurance Programs or designee, provide, adjust, manage, monitor, and handle worker's compensation claims for school districts that are members of the Southwest Washington Workers' Compensation Trust. Claims shall be handled in compliance with the state industrial insurance laws, generally accepted claims, practices and procedures, and the WC Trust policies and procedures.
Salary:
The full salary range will be $68,411.20 - $83,241.60. Offers are made at the beginning of the range.
Assignment:
The position is full time, year round. This position is open until filled with applications received by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2026 receiving first consideration.
Essential Functions/Other Functions
Essential Functions
- Perform investigations to determine evaluate benefit eligibility of medical only claims; obtain and review medical records, statements, claim documentation.
- Adjudicate medical only claims in compliance with state RCW and WAC regulations.
- Analyze a variety of claim related information pertaining to eligibility of benefits, duration and anticipated close for the purpose of case reserving.
- Prepare and transmit letters and forms within time limits set by statute, WAC and department policies and procedures.
- Identify, prepare, and perform claim closures.
- Provide claim support to adjusters on time loss claims as requested, including completion of department forms and letters, collection of information, claim closure documentation and time loss calculations.
- Provide loss control and other operational support.
- Work independently on claims and collaboratively with team members in Insurance Programs.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in interdepartmental and external communications.
- Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Other Functions:
- Engage in assigned activities with school districts and insurance program employees.
- Participate in presentations on claims and related topics.
- Provide back up support and engage in tasks requested by Worker Comp Operations Manager.
- Attend school district meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Hold a current Washington State Self-Insured Claims Administrator Certification.
- Experience adjusting workers' compensation claims.
- Experience using automated claims system.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three or more years of experience handling Workers' Compensation medical only claims with an increased level of complexity.

- Office environment.
- Ability to operate keyboard to accomplish required tasks.
- Ability to perform stationary routine and repetitive functions for extended periods.
- Travel as required
Employment Requirements - ESD job offer is contingent upon satisfying the following:
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the WA State Patrol and FBI.
