Academic Trauma Surgeon Opportunity
Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Trauma Surgeon to join our dynamic, goal-oriented team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the education of residents and medical students while engaging in clinical, research, and other scholarly activities.
Based in the beautiful capital city of Charleston, West Virginia, the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is offering a full-time academic position in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery.
Position Overview: The successful candidate will provide Trauma Surgery, Elective General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery services across two adult academic hospitals. One of these is an ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center, treating approximately 3,000 patients annually. The Acute Care Surgery service handles more than 1,100 cases per year, while the Surgery-Trauma ICU cares for around 1,100 patients annually.
In addition to outstanding educational opportunities for medical students and residents, this position offers the potential for scholarly activity supported by a dedicated, full-time research staff. As the Division grows to include advanced training programs in Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, leadership opportunities may also be available.

Location: Charleston, WV Located at the confluence of the Elk and Kanawha rivers, Charleston is West Virginia's historic state capital and largest city. It offers a cost of living below the national average and is centrally located for easy access to major metropolitan areas in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Requirements
Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications by the time of appointment:
MD/DO from an accredited U.S. or non-U.S. program
Successful completion of an accredited General Surgery residency with additional training in Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery
Board certification/eligibility by the American Board of Surgery in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
A minimum of 3 years of experience at a Level I/II Trauma Center
Eligible for a West Virginia Medical License and an unrestricted DEA number.
