- Trauma Medical Director position in coastal Charleston, SC

Roper St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH) is seeking an experienced, dynamic and visionary physician leader to serve as the Regional Trauma Medical Director & Director of Acute Care Surgery. This dual-role position provides strategic, clinical, and operational oversight of the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) service lines across the RSFH system, including Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, RSF Berkeley Hospital and RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital. Duties will be 60% administrative and 40% clinical and based fulltime in Charleston SC.
The physician leader in this role will help advance RSFH’s mission of providing healing experiences through compassionate, high-quality care and ensuring that trauma and ACS programs meet the highest standard of clinical excellence, regional coordination, and patient-centered service.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO; board certified in General Surgery.
- Fellowship training in Acute Care Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and/or Surgical Critical Care required.
- Minimum 7 years of post-fellowship trauma/ACS experience; prior leadership experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma systems, performance improvement, and multidisciplinary clinical leadership.
- Commitment to RSFH values: compassion, excellence, integrity, and collaboration.
- Experience working with or within regional systems similar to the South Carolina Lowcountry is a plus.

- Exceptional communication and team-building skills.
- Ability to align clinicians, administrators, and system leaders around shared goals.
- Strong working knowledge of ACS-COT, trauma designation, and registry standards.
- Proven commitment to high-reliability, safety, and data-driven clinical excellence.
- Demonstrated interest in teaching, mentorship, community engagement, and system development.
