Position Overview
The Department of Surgery at SUNY Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine in collaboration with Golisano, formerly Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, is seeking a dynamic and visionary pediatric surgeon to join our team as a Pediatric Surgery Faculty Member and serve as the Surgeon in Chief of Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (formerly Oishei Children’s Hospital Buffalo), Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery. This is a exceptional opportunity for an experienced leader to be a part of an established and thriving pediatric surgery division while also contributing meaningfully to clinical care, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Faculty Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality surgical care to pediatric patients across a full spectrum of conditions.
- Participate in shared call coverage, inpatient and outpatient services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neonatology, pediatric critical care, oncology, and other subspecialties.
- Actively engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Participate in clinical and/or basic science research with opportunities for intradepartmental and inter-institutional collaboration.
- Maintain a commitment to service excellence and continuous quality improvement.
Surgeon in Chief Responsibilities:
- Serve as the strategic and operational surgical leader for all surgical subspecialties at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
- Guide recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of Golisano surgeons and staff.
- Oversee clinical operations, efficiency, quality, and safety initiatives.
- Work closely with hospital and health system leadership to expand services and enhance program visibility.
Division Chief Responsibilities:
- Serve as the strategic and operational leader for the Division of Pediatric Surgery.
- Guide recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of division faculty and staff.
- Establish and implement divisional goals aligned with departmental and institutional missions.
- Oversee clinical operations, quality, and safety initiatives.
- Work closely with hospital and health system leadership to expand services and enhance program visibility.
- Drive innovation in pediatric surgical care delivery, education, and research.
- Oversee the pediatric surgery fellowship which is the 7th oldest fellowship in the nation.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- M.D. or equivalent degree with completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency and pediatric surgery fellowship.
- Board certification in Pediatric Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
- Eligible for medical licensure in New York
- Demonstrated track record of clinical excellence, teaching, and scholarly achievement.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in faculty development, team management, or program-building preferred

Appointment and Compensation:
Looking for a Full Professor or Associate Professor level with a clear path to promotion to full professor, tenure track available for qualified candidates.
