Patient Admissions & Office Billing Assistant (Full-Time)

Location: Trenton, MI
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Late Tuesdays required)
Starting Pay: $18–$19 per hour, based on experience
South Valley Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time Patient Admissions & Office Billing Assistant to join our busy internal medicine practice. Position Summary
The Patient Admissions & Office Billing Assistant supports both front-office operations and billing-related functions. Responsibilities include patient check-in and check-out, insurance eligibility verification, billing inquiries, collections, payment plans, prior authorizations, scheduling, and phone support. This role works closely with clinical staff, providers, and billing partners to ensure efficient daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients; complete check-out processes accurately
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for inpatient and outpatient services
Respond to patient billing inquiries and assist with collections and payment plans
Support prior authorization requests and related documentation
Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately
Schedule and reschedule patient appointments
Maintain accurate patient demographic and financial information
Collaborate with internal teams and third-party billing partners to resolve issues
Perform additional front-office and administrative duties as part of a team
Qualifications
Prior experience in a medical office, patient access, or billing role preferred
Working knowledge of insurance eligibility, billing, and collections strongly preferred
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Comfortable using EHR systems and office technology
Professional demeanor with a strong commitment to HIPAA compliance
