A little about us.
Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit.
ISLHD Hospital@Home provides access, triage, and linkage to community-based health services for people in need of hospital level care at home. The H@H service delivers hospitallevel assessment, treatment, and monitoring to patients outside the traditional inpatient setting and includes provision of care to people who are admitted to the Virtual Hospital Ward (VHW) and Hospital in The Home (HITH) across the district.
ISLHD is seeking suitable applicants to join ISLHD Hospital@Home service, an innovative and rapidly growing model of care. The service delivers hospitallevel assessment, treatment, and monitoring to patients outside the traditional inpatient setting. This encompasses care for patients admitted to the Virtual Hospital Ward (VHW) and Hospital in the Home (HITH). Referrals are received from Emergency Departments, inpatient wards, GP's, Urgent Care Centres, specialist outpatient clinics, and from other LHDs to facilitate safe transfer of patients back to their usual area of residence.
The service operates 7 days per week from 8:00am to 8:00pm and is supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team. Senior Medical Officers provide both facetoface and telehealth care, with shifts ranging from 4 to 12 hours.
Outofhospital care is a key strategic direction for the future of health service delivery. We are seeking senior clinicians interested in developing expertise in this expanding domain and contributing to the ongoing growth of the service.

- Valid NSW Drivers Licence
