Description
The First Impression Specialist is often one of the first people a customer sees when entering our clinic. In
addition to greeting, assisting, and registering patients/ accurately updating demographic information in electronic
system; collecting co-pays, deductible and other payment, scheduling appointments; and answering telephones,
The First Impression Specialists execute various administrative functions, such as reception and clerical work.
The First Impression Specialist will be required to float between Radiology and Lab to and provide coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting and providing information to assist customers or refer them to appropriate contacts, either within
the clinic or elsewhere. - Patient Registration; Reception duties; Telephone interactions; may require scheduling duties.
- Accurately verifying, adding and updating patient demographics.
- Accurately collecting and copying insurance information and verifying insurance coverage is in effect at the time of the service.
- Acknowledge patient's arrival electronically to ensure office is aware the patient has arrived.
- Accurately collecting and processing co-pays, deductibles and payments on outstanding balances.
- Presenting, explaining and collecting customer signatures on all applicable documents required.
- Accurately maintain, balance and close the batch and cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- All tasks performed with close adherence to both clinic polices/procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Carry out other clerical duties such as filing, mailings, handouts,
- May require travel to other offices and/or facilities floating between satellites, departments, facilities.
- Cross training may be required in scheduling, pre authorizations, referrals, rooming patients, etc.
- Other duties as assigned/necessary.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in medical office registration helpful
- Understanding of medical terminology and standard insurance cards/forms/information
- Ability to multitask
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and payment processing
- Computer experience, with fast, accurate typing skills
- Strong organization abilities and attention to detail
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional, even in emergency situations
- Able to work with limited supervision
- Pleasant and friendly demeanor with high focus on teamwork and customer satisfaction
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of HIPAA laws
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements
