Description
Atrium Health Pineville is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Emergency General Surgeon to join our collaborative team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Atrium Health is a leading community-focused academic healthcare system serving North and South Carolina.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver excellence in patient-centered care, focusing on quality improvement and care optimization.
- Participate in resident, medical student, and advanced care practitioner education.
- Engage in research to improve the organization, management, and delivery of high-quality general surgery care.
- Practice includes emergency general surgery with opportunities for elective cases.
- Inpatient and outpatient services are supported by Advanced Practice Practitioners.
- Participate in scholarly and professional development activities.
- Call schedule: ~4 weeknights/month, no more than 1 in every 4 weekends.
- Opportunity for academic appointment with Wake Forest Department of Surgery.

General Surgery covers emergency services at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, Mercy, and Pineville, and performs elective cases. Pineville: 307-bed acute care hospital; Carolinas Medical Center: 874-bed tertiary/quaternary hospital, Level I trauma center; Mercy: 232-bed acute care hospital. Freestanding emergency rooms provide additional patient access. Department of Surgery: 75 clinical faculty, 6 PhD researchers, multiple divisions including General & GI Surgery, HPB, Pediatric, Plastic, Oncology, and Urology. Division of General & GI Surgery: 17 faculty members across several sections. Active leadership roles in EGS Guidelines, Acute Care Surgery Network, peer review, research, and national surgical societies.

Requirements
- BC/BE in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
- Fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery or Acute Care Surgery preferred.
- Experience in quality improvement, healthcare administration, or health services research is a plus.
