Veterinary Cardiologist – Build a Cardiology Service | Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency (BASE)

We are building a multi-specialty hospital in the South Bay of Los Angeles and are looking for a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Cardiologist to help establish and grow our cardiology service.
Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency (BASE) is a privately owned, veterinarian-led hospital with an existing specialty and emergency foundation. This is an opportunity to step into a hospital that is already busy, supported, and growing—while playing a central role in shaping cardiology as part of our long-term vision.
Residents completing a cardiology residency are encouraged to apply—we are happy to support the transition into specialty practice.
Why This Role Exists
We are seeing increasing demand for advanced cardiac care across our hospitals and referral network and currently refer a significant number of cardiology cases out.
This position is an opportunity to build a cardiology service that will have immediate case volume, supported by:
An established emergency and specialty caseload
A multi-hospital network
A strong local referral community
About BASE
Our Torrance location currently operates:
Emergency and critical care
Surgery
Internal medicine
Anesthesiology
Due to continued growth and demand, we are expanding into a new 16,000 sq ft specialty hospital, with completion anticipated in November 2026.
Facilities & Equipment
We are equipped to support advanced specialty care, including:
Fluoroscopy for interventional procedures
CT (including 64-slice CT in new facility)
Endoscopy and advanced imaging capabilities
Full in-house monitoring and critical care support
Cardiology-specific equipment, including the echocardiography platform, will be selected based on your preference.
We welcome candidates interested in developing or expanding interventional cardiology procedures.
What Your First 6 Months Could Look Like
Establish cardiology service with equipment selected to your specifications
Begin seeing referred cases from our hospitals and surrounding GP network
Collaborate with surgery, internal medicine, and emergency/critical care on shared cases
Help shape workflows, scheduling, and service structure as the department grows

Full-Time
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $250,000 – $350,000, depending on experience
Production-based commission structure
No negative accrual

What We’re Looking For
Board-certified (ACVIM – Cardiology) or residency-trained
Strong clinical and communication skills
