We have an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified, board-certified Cardiac Surgeon to lead and further develop the cardiac surgery program at the Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a unique opportunity at a tertiary medical center recognized for excellence in cardiac care.
Suburban Hospital is a member of the Johns Hopkins Health System and serves of 5 million people in the greater D.C. area with over 14,000 admissions and 4,544 hospital-based outpatient surgery cases annually. Our hospital also serves as the designated regional trauma center for Montgomery County and treats about 1,600 trauma patients each year. In March 2020, Suburban Hospital opened its much-anticipated 300,000-square-foot addition, a state-of-the-art building that modernizes the entire hospital campus and creates an even better flow for patients, families, and clinicians. Suburban Hospital also has various strategic partnerships with local and national healthcare providers, including the National Institutes of Health.
Johns Hopkins cardiac services as Suburban Hospital include elective and emergency angioplasty as well as inpatient, diagnostic, and rehabilitation services. With a certified cardiac catheterization program by MIEMSS and an active TAVR program, Suburban Hospital offers a wide range of quality heart services. The cardiac surgery program is growing and offers the full spectrum of surgical therapy for patients with adult acquired heart disease.
The ideal candidate will have broad experience and recognized clinical excellence in adult cardiac surgery. Ideal candidates will demonstrate expertise in:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Heart valve repair and replacement
- Transcatheter valve therapies (TAVR)
- Developing and growing an elective cardiac surgery practice
Candidates should have a strong commitment to clinical excellence, program development, and advancing the mission of academic medicine. Qualifications
Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in cardiothoracic surgery and have at least 5 years of independent operative experience. Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in Maryland. Candidates must be board-certified in cardiac surgery.
